The entity owning this website is the General Directorate of the National Geographic Institute of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, as Technical Secretariat of the National Geographical Council and with headquarters on the Calle General Ibáñez de Ibero nº 3 in Madrid.

Article 4 of Law 14/2010 of 5 July on geographic infrastructures and information services in Spain (LISIGE) states that it is the responsibility of the National Geographic Council to carry out the functions related to the establishment and maintenance of the Spanish Geographic Information Infrastructure as the coordinating and managing body of said infrastructure. This work is supported by the Executive Council of the Spanish Geographic Information Infrastructure. Also, Article 5.2 of Law 14/2010 provides that the General Directorate of the National Geographic Institute, as Technical Secretariat of the National Geographic Council, shall constitute and maintain the Geoportal of the Spanish National Spatial Data Infrastructure. In accordance with this, and in compliance with Article 15.3 of Royal Decree 452/2012, of 5 March, which develops the basic organizational structure of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, states the National Centre for Geographic Information, an autonomous body of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, carries out the planning and management functions of the Spanish Geographic Information Infrastructure within the strategic framework defined by the National Geographic Institute.

Within the National Centre for Geographic Information, the Geographic Information Infrastructure Area is responsible for developing the content, organisation, and choice of links on the website, and in this regard, it is necessary to clarify the following:

• The texts, recommendations, and in general any geographic information contained on the pages of this portal come from different organisations and may, at times, not be current as they are continually being updated.
• The portal provides links to external pages that are not under the responsibility of the National Centre for Geographic Information and on which we do not have control, declining all responsibility for their content and quality of service.
• The design and browsing structure are based on the "Guidelines of the General State Administration for Editing and Publishing Websites".
